One of
the best ways to summarize the Holy Cross vision of education is to use the
words of our founder, Blessed Fr. Basil Moreau C.S.C.: "The mind will not be
cultivated at the expense of the heart.” As a part of our commitment to
educating the heart, we offer a wide variety of retreat programs for students
of all grade levels and interests. Our retreat program is designed to
complement our religion curriculum, to foster an appreciation for our Holy
Cross Heritage, and, most importantly, to encourage our students to grow closer
in their walk with Jesus.
Retreats
Journey
with Jesus Freshmen Retreat – All freshmen participate in this daylong retreat focusing
on the beginning of their own journeys through high school, and the role that
Jesus plays along that journey.
"Men
with Hope to Bring” Sophomore Service Retreat – All sophomores participate in
this daylong retreat devoted to service and our Holy Cross call to be "men with
hope to bring.” Students spend the day exploring the complex issues of poverty
and unemployment, and participate in a service project at a local social
service agency.
Holy
Cross Servant Leadership Retreat – A three day retreat for sophomores, juniors,
and seniors. Centered on the charisms of the Congregation of Holy Cross, this
student led retreat highlights what it means to live as a Christ-like servant
leader, both at St. Edward High School, and in the larger world.
Junior
Sacramental Encounters Retreat – A daylong retreat for juniors exploring the
mysteries of the sacraments. This retreat is designed to complement the material
from our junior level religion curriculum.

of poverty and homelessness. This retreat is an option for all students
enrolled in the "Social Issues” course, part of our senior level religion
curriculum.
Urban

level religion course, "Social Issues.” Students spend two days exploring Cleveland’s
Ohio City Neighborhood, learning about the work done by a variety of social
service and religious organizations.
Fellowship
of Christian Athletes (FCA) Retreat – Open to all members of St. Edward High
School’s chapter of the Fellowship for Christian Athletes, this retreat calls
students to grow in their walk with Jesus, on the court, on the field, and in
every aspect of their lives.
"Come
and See” Retreat – A weekend retreat for interested juniors and seniors held at
Columbia Hall at the University of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana. "Come and
See" Retreats provide an opportunity to experience religious life and are
designed for young men who are
interested in knowing more about the Brothers. Students attending the retreat
will spend time in a community of Holy Cross Brothers, and learn, first hand,
about the life and ministry of the Brothers of Holy Cross.
Holy
Cross Pilgrimage – Each summer, students from Holy Cross Schools around the
United States travel to Montreal to participate in the Holy Cross Pilgrimage to
St. Joseph’s Oratory. This time of prayer and reflection is open to all rising
junior and senior students in Holy Cross schools throughout the United States.
The primary focus of the Pilgrimage is on St. Joseph’s Oratory and the life of
St. Brother André.
