The Concert Band rehearses Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays from 3:30 until 5:15 in the Band Room. Membership is open to students attending St. Edward or Magnificat High Schools and St. Joseph Academy who play (or wish to learn) standard wind and percussion instruments.
St. Edward students may earn a half-credit for their participation in Concert Band. Students should include concert band on their schedules when working with their guidance counselors and registering for classes. Students who wish may take the class on a pass/fail basis (concert band appears on their transcripts but academic credit is not figured into their grade point average).
On days when there is no band scheduled, members are expected to practice a minimum of 30 minutes on their own. Private lessons from a qualified instructor specializing in the student’s particular instrument are strongly encouraged. Recommendations for private instructors may be obtained from the director.
