Pre-Engineering
A rigorous, innovative academic program at St. Edward High School
"The ideal engineer is a composite...he is not a scientist, he is not a mathematician, he is not a sociologist or a writer; but he may use the knowledge and techniques of any or all of these disciplines in solving engineering problems." -N. W. Dougherty, 1955

While pure science is concerned with the discovery and analysis of processes in the natural world, engineering is the application of these processes toward useful means. Engineers design solutions that help us improve our way of life.
Engineers are continually presented with new questions and challenges. These questions and challenges are fueled by ideas, and the recognition of a need or opportunity.

Engineering is for people who like to solve problems, make things better, and create new things. While engineers are generally well compensated, the best reward is in the satisfaction of finding solutions to problems and in knowing the benefit people receive from the results of your work.
