Position Description: The Dean of Student Services is responsible for overseeing and coordinating various student support services, fostering a positive and inclusive campus environment, ensuring student success and onboarding and supervising student services employees. The Dean manages student affairs, advocates for student needs, and ensures compliance with all regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the school’s mission, ensure all student service programs comply with applicable laws and the school’s and Diocese requirements.
  • Coordinate and prepare timely and accurate reports required by various federal and state agencies, Catholic Diocese, and as needed for scholarship funding.
  • Collaborate with local public school systems throughout Northeast Ohio regarding special education services for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Hire, train and supervise all student service employees, providing leadership and mentoring for those employees.
  • Act as the mediating step in the resolution process when a student’s behavior does not meet the school’s expectation.
  • Consult when needed with parents on their student’s progress, or lack thereof.
  • Work closely with the school’s CFO on creating the student support budget and maintaining that budget throughout the school year.
  • Collaborate with the school’s Academic Deans to develop strategies to support student learning and to ensure faculty have the tools, knowledge and support to be successful.
  • Keep abreast of emerging services, methodologies, and technologies relevant to student learning services.
  • Advise the admissions office regarding 8th grade applicants with learning plans (IEPs and 504s).
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of the school’s student population.
  • Ensure the appropriate provisions are in place for testing services for students.
  • Other duties/projects as needed related to the success of a St. Edward High School student.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Master’s degree in Intervention Services or related discipline preferred.
  • 5+ years of responsible experience working in student services or student affairs
  • Verifiable experience in leadership, supervision and budget management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of student development theory and best practices in student services
  • Experience working collaboratively across diverse groups and departments
  • Strong leadership and organizational techniques
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven track record in delivering programs that promote student engagement and retention
