THE JOY OF CHRISTMAS AT ST. ED's Students, faculty and staff at St. Ed's have really gotten into the Christmas spirit this week. In anticipation for the upcoming holiday break, students have been participating in fun activities including Christmas trivia, Elf on the Shelf, the second annual Reindeer Games outside on the front lawn and handing out Christmas treats and sweets to their fellow Edsmen. THE FEAST OF OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE CELEBRATES THE CROSSOVER BETWEEN THEOLOGY AND SPANISH On Wednesday, St. Ed's students celebrated the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe (the Virgin Mary) not just in their Spanish classes, but also with a Mass celebration to honor Mary with prayers, readings and songs in Spanish. The story of Our Lady of Guadalupe follows a poor Mexican man named Juan Diego who saw Our Lady of Guadalupe, clothed like an Aztec princess. Mary sent Juan Diego to the bishop to request that a chapel be built in the place she appeared. STUDENTS GET A BEHIND-THE-SCENES LOOK AT CLEVELAND STATE'S NEW FILM FACILITIES Film Department Chair and Director of Innovation Mr. Nick Kuhar and twelve of St. Ed's most ambitious film students had the opportunity to tour Cleveland State University's brand new Film facilities on the sixth floor of the Idea Center at Playhouse Square. Mr. Frederic Lahey, Program Director of CSU Film, personally guided our Eagles on an hour-long tour where they got to see firsthand CSU's multiple new editing bays, each loaded with bleeding edge hardware and software. ED'S COACHES SAVE THE LIFE OF EAGLES WRESTLER: STUDENTS LEARN IMPORTANCE OF HEALTH & SAFTEY PROCEDURES Laurenzo Williams '21 was in the middle of wrestling during a St. Ed's wrestling practice last week when he unexpectedly had a seizure. After the seizure, which lasted around two minutes, Head Wrestling Coach John Heffernan '84 noticed that Laurenzo's physical state appeared to be getting worse and immediately asked Coach Greg Urbas, who was standing nearby, to call 911. Coach Heffernan delegated further, making sure the wrestling coaches who were present retrieved Laurenzo's medical history papers and dismissed all wrestlers from the room.
