ED'S WELCOMES MEMBERS OF FRENCH CHOIR FROM LE PUY-EN-VELAY Last week, St. Ed's welcomed members of the French Choir from Collège Saint Joseph in Le Puy-en-Velay, France who have traveled to America to sing classical liturgical music in French, German, Latin and English. While in Cleveland, the French Choir has performed at St. Ed's, St. John's Cathedral in downtown Cleveland, St. Ambrose Parish Church in Brunswick, St. Joseph Academy, Lakewood Catholic Academy, St. Jude's School in Elyria, and Avon United Methodist Church. ED'S SCIENCE DEPARTMENT CHAIR WINS NSTA AWARD FOR INNOVATIVE STUDY ON IMPROVING LAKE ERIE'S WATER QUALITY Congratulations to St. Ed's Science Department Chair Mrs. Anne Marie Lavelle who was awarded the 2019 High School Level Vernier/NSTA Technology Award for her Lake Erie Water Quality Study. This award, co-sponsored by Vernier and NSTA (National Science Teachers Association), recognizes educators every year for their innovative use of data-collection technology. Mrs. Lavelle was awarded $1,000 cash, $3,000 in Vernier products for her classroom, and will get to attend NSTA's national conference in St. Louis this April where she will be recognized for her study. ED'S WELCOMES AMBASSADOR RYAN CROCKER TO SPEAK TO STUDENTS ABOUT DIPLOMACY & U.S. FOREIGN SERVICES St. Ed's welcomed Ambassador Ryan Crocker to speak to IB Diploma students and members of St. Ed's Model UN, Mock Trial and Cross and Anchors Society about the United States and its relationship with the Middle East. Mr. Crocker, a former career ambassador within the United States Foreign Service, has served as United States Ambassador to Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Syria, Kuwait and Lebanon. In 2010, Mr. Crocker became Dean of Texas A&M University's George Bush School of Government and Public Service and was nominated to serve as a member of the Broadcasting Board of Governors in 2013.
