A complete spiritual journey is one that utilizes a variety of sources such as film, literature, and writing; in order to grow closer to ourselves, others, and God in a meaningful and reflective way. This retreat will provide students with the opportunity to grow in their spirituality through film and reflective journaling. The movie we will be attending is called “Jesus Revolution”. This movie depicts the following story: In the 1970s, Greg Laurie and a sea of young people descend on sunny Southern California to redefine truth through all means of liberation. Inadvertently, Laurie meets a charismatic street preacher and a pastor who open the doors to a church to a stream of wandering youth. What unfolds is a counterculture movement that becomes the greatest spiritual awakening in American history. Following the film, we will go to The Oak Barrel for lunch and reflect on the film and our religion through journaling. Students who attend this retreat will be supplied with journaling material.

The retreat experience includes:

  • A private screening of “Jesus Revolution”

  • Group and individual prayer, reflection, and journaling opportunities.

  • Journaling materials.

  • Fellowship with students and faculty alike.

  • Lunch at The Oak Barrel restaurant.

  • Transportation to and from Cinemark and lunch (The Oak Barrel is located directly next to the theatre).

*Students are responsible for purchasing any concessions at the theatre they may want.
