Paul W. Simon (1940-2018) age 77. Passed away after a long, hard-fought battle with dementia. Beloved husband of Nancy (nee Marek) for 54 years. Loving father of Julie Hetzel (Robert), William (Elaine), and Paul Mark (Eileen). Devoted grandfather of Ethan Hetzel, and Clayton, Leah, Audrey, Katherine, Paige, Elliot and Wesley Simon. Cherished brother of Mary Mondock (James-deceased), and Celia Lakotish (Michael-deceased). Dear brother-in-law of Carolyn and Norman Loboda, and Raymond and Carolyn Marek. Son of Cecelia and William Simon (both deceased). Loving uncle, cousin and friend of many. A proud 1958 graduate of St. Edward High School, he attended the University of Dayton Art Institute; retired as a deputy bailiff for the Cleveland Municipal Court. Paul had a deep love for entertaining people, either through acting in community theater productions, which he was involved with for many years, telling stories and jokes, or acting out books to his grandchildren using different voices for each character. Paul also greatly enjoyed drawing and taking art classes, especially watercolor painting. He had a passion for history, and visiting Colonial Williamsburg many times over the years, was one of his favorite activities. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 300 E. 185 St., Cleveland 44119; St. Edward High School, 13500 Detroit Rd., Lakewood, 44107; St. Rocco Church, 3205 Fulton Rd., Cleveland, 44109; Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine and the Sisters of the Most Holy Trinity, 21281 Chardon Rd., Euclid, 44117. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 12, 2018 at St. Rocco Church, Cleveland. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends THURSDAY 2 – 4 AND 5 – 8 P.M. at the A. RIPEPI & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 18149 BAGLEY ROAD, MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS (WEST OF I-71).
