Introducing the Social Entrepreneurship Immersion Program - Launching at St. Ed's in Fall 2017.

Dear St. Edward Community,

I am excited to announce the launch of a new Social Entrepreneurship Immersion Program at St. Edward High School – an extracurricular course of study that will be available to our sophomore, junior and senior students beginning in the fall of 2017. This new venture will add to our established history of developing forward-thinking programs, among which include the International Baccalaureate, pre-engineering, our traditional entrepreneurship program, film, and data science.

The aim of the program is to provide students with the opportunity to study and practice the application of innovation -in the form of mindsets we’ve created - through the lens of social entrepreneurship and social enterprise. In short, we are seeking to live out our pillar of servant leadership in an innovative way that will have a sustainable impact on society.

Through their participation in the Social Entrepreneurship Immersion Program, students will: understand the uniqueness of social entrepreneurship and the contribution that social enterprise makes to the economy; closely study innovation mindsets and the importance of those mindsets to successful social entrepreneurs and social enterprises; gain a more complete understanding of the social entrepreneurship landscape in Cleveland; work in teams to develop a plan for their own social enterprise, including financial planning that is sustainable; and, pitch their ideas/plans with winning plans earning seed funding to launch their initiatives with the help of resources, relationships, and expertise already connected with St. Edward.

We are excited that representatives from thriving local organizations like Social Venture Partners, Breakthrough Schools, Cleveland Kids Book Bank, Rust Belt Riders, EDWINS Restaurant & Leadership Institute, Cleveland Public Theater and SEA Change will serve as guest lecturers for the program in its first year.

The first class will be held Wednesday, September 6, 2017, and students will soon be receiving information about how they can apply for the program. If you would like additional information on the program, please email KC McKenna ’00 at kcmckenna@sehs.net.

Thank you for your support of St. Edward High School!

Sincerely,

Jim Kubacki
