Best of the Week 2020-2021: Excellence in College Prep

SENIOR EDSMAN WRESTLER NAMED CLIFF KEEN PRESEASON HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLER OF THE YEAR

Congratulations to Padraic (Paddy) Gallagher '21 who was named the Cliff Keen Preseason High School Wrestler of the Year. "I am so honored to be named the Cliff Keen Preseason High School Wrestler of the Year this year," says Paddy. "It shows that all of my hard work and dedication is being recognized throughout the country." Paddy is also an Ohio State Champion, was named Ohio's Most Outstanding Wrestler in 2020, won the Ironman and was the Fargo champion in 2019, and has been the recipient of the Mark Zimmer Award.

“He wants the NCAAs. He wants the Olympics. He wants to make a career out of wrestling," says St. Ed's Head Wrestling Coach John Heffernan '84. "He’s cognizant of taking care of his body, trains the right way, and eats the right way. He’s very good at what he does."

Paddy's grit and commitment to wrestling speaks to his character and drive for excellence. As he finishes his senior year strong while competing in open college tournaments, Paddy is prepared to go on and wrestle for The Ohio State University next fall. "What keeps me motivated is fear. When my career is over, I don’t want to look back and have any regrets. Wrestling is part of who I am because it consumes my everyday life. If you want to be the best at this game, you have to do everything right and be extremely disciplined," says Paddy. "St. Ed's has given me great coaches that help me reach my full potential and chase my dream of being an NCAA National Champion."
