ST. ED'S KNIGHTS OF THE TIBER EARN AWARDS & TITLES IN FIRST-EVER VIRTUAL STATE LATIN CONVENTION

Congratulations to Knights of the Tiber, St. Ed's Latin Club, on receiving five state titles, resulting in seven state champions at the first-ever virtual State Latin Convention. Aaron Harper '21 took first place, for the second time, in Latin Recitation and was awarded "Best in Show" while Tim Welch '21 took first place in Latin Vocabulary. Tim is now a two-time State title holder in the same event, for which he is also the reigning national champion, and also placed fourth in Latin Literature. Sam Richardson '21, in addition to the entire Latin I Academic Challenge Team (Luke Feran '24, Nate Johnson '24, Benji Nguyen '24, and Jack Stanovic '24),won both in Latin Vocabulary and Roman History, a historic win for two events in the same year. Sam has become the first-ever Edsman to earn Latin State titles in multiple events at the same convention in multiple years. The St. Ed's Latin II Academic Challenge Team (Jacob Cook '24, Jaden Stainforth '24, and Ty Wiggenhorn '24) became State runner-ups, with Jacob taking second place in Reading Comprehension and third in both Latin Grammar and Latin Vocabulary. Jaden and Ty earned fourth place in Latin Grammar, Vocabulary, and Literature, with Ty claiming the first two prizes and Jaden the third. Ty also scored an additional win, taking fifth place in Latin Vocabulary. With 12 delegates competing in the 2021 State Convention, this was one of the best years yet for our Edsmen in Knights of the Tiber. At the very beginning of the State Latin Convention, Daniel Cavoli, Latin teacher and Knights of the Tiber co-moderator, was honored with the Longtime Service to the Ohio Junior Classical League (OJCL) Award. Former St. Ed's teacher Greg Stemm gave a speech, sharing all that Mr. Cavoli has done for Latin students across Ohio throughout his years of selfless service to the Knights of the Tiber organization. Congratulations to Mr. Cavoli and to all of St. Ed's Knights of the Tiber members!
