Best of the Week 2020-2021: Excellence in College Prep


Congratulations to the St. Ed's Wrestling team who earned the State Champions title last weekend. With this being the 34th Wrestling State Championship for St. Ed's, the Wrestling Eagles scored 184.5 points, outdistancing the second place team by 72 points. Out of the thirteen St. Ed's wrestlers who competed, 10 placed in the Top 8 in their weight class. St. Ed's now has achieved a state record with 115 individual State champions since 1978. Congratulations to the following individual wrestlers:

  • Ryan Bennett '24 (State Champion - 112th in St. Ed's History)

  • Wyatt Richter '22 (4th Place)

  • Sean Seefeldt '21 (State Champion - 113th in St. Ed's History)

  • Patrick Androsik '24 (State Qualifier)

  • Richard Delsanter '21 (State Champion - 114th in St. Ed's History)

  • Thomas West '21 (State Qualifier)

  • Evan Bennett '22 (State Runner-up)

  • Paddy Gallagher '21 (State Champion - 115th in St. Ed's History)

  • Luke Geog '22 (State Runner-up)

  • Hudson Hightower '21 (3rd Place)

  • Aris Dashiell '21 (8th Place)

  • Jon Slaper '24 (6th Place)

  • Mike Kilbane '23 (State Qualifier)

"I’m really proud of the effort and dedication our wrestlers showed all year long. They wrestled their best when it meant the most," says Head Wrestling Coach John Heffernan '84. A special congratulations goes out to Paddy Gallagher '21 who has been nominated by MaxPreps Sports for the nation's Student-Athlete of the Year title.

St. Ed's would also like to recognize Hockey Coach and Dean of Students Tim Sullivan '92, Wrestling Coach John Heffernan '84, and Basketball Coach and Physical Education Department Chair Eric Flannery '90 who led their three winter sports teams to States this year. Our community commends our alumni coaches on their leadership in getting our Eagles to States this year. Congratulations, coaches!
