ST. ED'S CELEBRATES BLACK HISTORY MONTH IN SOLIDARITY WITH EMPOWERING NEW T-SHIRTS

Every year, St. Ed's takes the opportunity to celebrate our diverse community and its individual voices, especially during Black History Month. To honor African-American history and physically live out this year's theme, Side by Side, students, faculty and staff donned a new St. Ed's T-shirt design to stand in solidarity for equity and inclusion. Spreading this visual message of love, unity, and justice, our community continues to support new ways of manifesting cultural humility.

Students also had the chance to watch the 2018 film, "Long Time Coming: 1955 Baseball Story" as a community and participate in an open discussion about racial segregation and how one non-violent act of cultural defiance could change history. "The documentary is all about how sports can bring people of different backgrounds together and have such an impact to inspire personal and social change," says Vice President of Equity and Inclusion James Knight. From daily announcements about life-changing moments in African-American history to additional signage hung around campus of profound black leaders, St. Ed's continues to provide students with resources, knowledge and awareness to better understand the diverse world in which we live in order to cultivate effective, empathetic leaders and agents of change.
