ST. ED'S INDUCTS NEWEST MEMBERS OF SOCIEDAD HONORARIA HISPANICA

This week, 19 Edsmen were inducted into St. Ed's "Sagrada Familia" chapter of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica. With 36 active members on campus, St. Ed's Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica honors our students' academic achievements, supports their cultural interests and acknowledges how language can create strong ties between people of different regions, race, and religion. "Being part of St. Ed's Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica not only challenges us to learn more about the Spanish language itself and its many uses, but also to understand how the culture and language resonates with us in our own lives, connecting us both to the past and future," says Sam Clemente '23.

The purpose of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica is to honor our students' academic achievements and to support their cultural interests. Throughout the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica ceremony, students reflect on a reading from Acts 2:1-11 and participate in the "Distribution of Candles," when each student is given a candle to be lit by the symbolic flame of inspiration toward high ideals. With the oath of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, students promise to promote friendship, the power of communication, and the understanding all global cultures.
