EDSMEN SOCCER ATHLETES TAKE THE LEAD ON SERVICE OPPORTUNITY WITH THE GATHERING PLACE

St. Ed's freshman soccer teammates, who were in search of a service project, banded together as servant leaders to offer their assistance at The Gathering Place, an organization that helps those individuals and their family members who are on a cancer journey by offering free programs and services

Led by PJ Huston Barkley '25, Edsmen jumped on the opportunity to help volunteer for The Gathering Place Warehouse sale in moving furniture and accessories and help raise money to continue The Gathering Place's free services for those in need.

"The Gathering Place had reached out to St. Ed's seeking help and, although this was a last minute service opportunity, PJ and his teammates jumped on the chance to help and immediately committed their service," says Emily McGee, Manager of Outreach and Service. "These Edsmen were so respectful, courteous and had a great attitude in seeking out service they could accomplish together. They are looking forward to going back and making this a regular service event together."
