EDSMEN LEAD LENTEN ALMSGIVING CHALLENGE TO RAISE $4,000 FOR ST. ED'S SISTER SCHOOL IN GHANA

Student ministers Kevin Bohm '22, Sean Krieg '23, and Luke Stuart '23 have led St. Ed's community in a Lenten Almsgiving Challenge to help our sister school in Ghana, St. Brother Andre Senior High. St. Brother Andre is seeking help in adding musical instruments to their choir: a digital keyboard, amp and drum set. Not only does this Lenten Almsgiving Challenge help our sister school in Ghana, it also provides an opportunity for the St. Ed's community to practice Lenten almsgiving. The Lenten Almsgiving Challenge seeks to raise $4,000 in the 40 days of Lent, with the goal of raising $100 a day. If everyone were to donate at least $5, we will easily surpass our goal in helping our fellow Holy Cross school. "We have been working on hosting this fundraiser for some time now and we thought Lent would be the perfect time for our community to work together and do it," says Kevin. "This season is an especially great opportunity to strengthen our Holy Cross bonds internationally and the St. Ed's community has the ability to directly see their donations assist the community of St. Brother Andre Senior High."

During this Lenten season, as we consider the Lenten themes of prayer, fasting and almsgiving, this is a concrete way we can make a big difference in the lives of fellow Holy Cross students. Consider making an online donation to St. Ed's Lenten Almsgiving Challenge at sehs.net/ghana. During the school day, students can easily make a donation when they purchase their lunch in the Palisin Commons cafeteria. Rather than purchasing a treat for themselves, students can practice Lenten almsgiving and instead hand a Ghana Donation card to the cashier when they purchase lunch to let the cashier know they are donating to the Lenten Almsgiving Challenge. Donation cards will be passed out and placed at the cash registers in the Commons. In addition to the Lenten Almsgiving Challenge, there are new service opportunities at St. Ed's for students and their families who want to get involved in service during the Lenten season. Visit sehs.net/service-opportunities for more information.
