ST. ED'S REVITALIZES ICONIC PROGRAM, "CLASSROOM OF CHAMPIONS"

This week, St. Ed's launched a brand new format for its "Classroom of Champions" program, a quiz show-style academic competition for local grade schools. Having started in 1990, the newly revitalized version of this classic competition will offer different themed categories each month through April, starting with History this month and looking ahead at Science in November and English Literature in December to round out the 2021 year. With each school participating and enrolling up to five team members for each team, boys and girls from 7th and 8th grade have a blast using game show technology through the SpeedQuizzing app in friendly competition to answer academic trivia and become the reigning "Classroom of Champions." "The 'Classroom of Champions' competition is a great opportunity for local middle school students to connect and compete on St. Ed's campus together on a monthly basis," says Director of Admission Dan Mackin '04. "In addition to the dozens of students who competed last night, it was exciting to see how many parents, grandparents, younger siblings, and grade school teachers stayed to watch the competition.Social Studies teacher Sean Cahill serves as our emcee for this competition and his wealth of knowledge, kind disposition, and quick wit create a competitive and fun environment for our participants."
