History of the Congregation
Founded nearly 200 years ago by Blessed Basil Moreau, C.S.C., the Congregation of Holy Cross is a family-oriented Catholic community dedicated to education and service.
We are dedicated to ensuring all students, regardless of their religion or background, feel included and celebrated in our community.
Throughout history, the Brothers of Holy Cross have made community—expressed in the image of the Holy Family—central to the educational institutions they founded.
We are dedicated to ensuring all students, regardless of their religion or background, feel included and celebrated in our community.
The Holy Cross Constitutions state: “As disciples of Jesus we stand side by side with all people. Like them we are burdened by the same struggles and beset by the same weaknesses; like them, we are made new by the same Lord’s love; like them, we hope for a world where justice and love prevail.” This message is lived out through our faculty’s commitment to walking alongside students on their educational and spiritual journeys.
The Brothers of Holy Cross are more than just our founders—they are our compass. By embracing their core values, Edsmen are inspired to become men of hope who will one day better the world.
