Annual School Theme
Holy Cross values are the foundation of a St. Edward education—woven into every aspect of the school experience. Our annual school theme focuses intensively on one of our educational pillars.
The St. Edward experience centers on four Holy Cross pillars: faith, excellence, relationships, and servant leadership.
Faith
The mission of St. Edward emphasizes the "formation of young men in a faith-based tradition that is God-centered and values the acceptance of each person." Through this inclusive foundation, every student matures in his spiritual and ethical understanding.
Faculty members encourage students to deeply reflect on and recognize the presence of spiritual truths in their lives. They engage with the Sacred Scriptures and other religious texts, study and reflect on life issues through a faith-based lens, and analyze contemporary issues using principles of morality and justice. Additionally, they explore topics in ecumenical and interreligious dialogue.
Excellence
St. Edward cultivates a tradition of personal excellence. Our diverse programs, from rigorous academics to award-winning arts and championship athletics, provide students with numerous opportunities to discover and develop their unique talents and achieve their individual goals.
Personal excellence is nurtured by our dedicated faculty and coaches, who view their profession as a calling and are committed to helping each student embrace every opportunity for growth. Administrators and support staff further the learning process as supportive community members who encourage every young man to explore his interests, overcome challenges, and reach his full potential.
Relationships
Hospitality, a core charism of the Congregation of Holy Cross, manifests on campus through supportive relationships, which are integral to the school’s culture. At St. Edward, teachers become family and friends become brothers, fostering a profound sense of belonging for every community member.
As Edsmen realize they are supported in all endeavors, they are emboldened to venture beyond their comfort zones, discovering new talents and passions along the way.
The brotherhood that develops among classmates during their four years at St. Edward is a testament to the strength of the community and the positive experience that each young man has during these formative years.
Servant Leadership
Throughout their four years, each Edsman is guided in discovering his call to live as a servant leader. We challenge our students to embody hospitality, compassion, zeal, and humility, and to bring hope to everyone they encounter.
A key aspect of servant leadership emphasized at St. Edward is putting the greater good before oneself. Our focus on faith formation, personal growth, and meaningful relationships is rooted in the mission to develop Christ-like servant leaders who enrich the lives of others by living out the charism and spirituality of the Congregation of Holy Cross.
These ideals are reinforced by faculty, who model patience, kindness, and love—essential qualities for leading others through service.
