Our expert college counselors are dedicated to matching each student with the school that best aligns with their unique interests and goals.

The Office of College Counseling employs three full-time counselors who lead students through a comprehensive four-year journey of self-reflection and personal growth. This journey is enriched by a variety of programs, including school visits, meetings with representatives, parent nights, financial aid workshops, and more—all designed to help families navigate the nuances of the college admission process.

While Edsmen work with the college counseling team throughout high school, the exploration of college options intensifies in eleventh grade. The Office of College Counseling takes an individualized and collaborative approach, offering personalized meetings with students and their families. These sessions are designed to not only educate juniors about the application process but also to help them gain a deeper understanding of their preferences, needs, and aspirations.

Students on college decision day

As senior year approaches, students receive personalized instruction and constructive feedback throughout the process of writing their college essays. In addition, student-athletes receive essential information about NCAA eligibility requirements.

During the fall of senior year, students are prepared to solidify their future plans. Our college counseling team works with students to develop strategies for how, when, and where to apply. The four-year process culminates in seniors making confident choices about their college paths, ensuring personal, academic, and financial fit.

The IB Advantage

To prepare students for collegiate coursework, there is no better curriculum than the International Baccalaureate program. As an IB World School, all St. Edward students benefit from the methodologies employed by teachers trained in IB. Combined with our Holy Cross values and innovative mindset, the IB approach uniquely positions St. Edward students for college success.

Approximately 50 Edsmen from each graduating class earn the distinguished IB diploma—which involves a full slate of IB courses during junior and senior years. The IB diploma is well-known for its rigorous academic preparation, emphasis on critical thinking, and global perspective; making it a standout qualification in the competitive admissions process.
