International Travel

Edsmen embark on transformative journeys around the globe, immersing themselves in cultures, languages, and communities.

As a Holy Cross institution and an IB World School, St. Edward offers international travel opportunities that help students become compassionate, informed global citizens. Each experience is designed to deepen what students learn in the classroom and help them better understand the people and places they encounter.

 

More than sightseeing trips, the International Travel Program fosters global awareness and personal growth.

 

The Director of International Programs, Sabrina Gushue, meticulously plans, coordinates, and manages these experiences, offering choices that cater to all St. Edward families' interests, schedules, and budgets. The underlying principles include fostering global understanding and international awareness, which are central to the mission of the school, the Congregation of Holy Cross, and the International Baccalaureate.

Trips are organized into five main categories:

  • Student Exchanges: Students live with host families and attend local schools, experiencing daily life in another country and building relationships across cultures.
  • Mission and Service Trips: Guided by Holy Cross values, students work alongside local communities on service projects and learn from the people they meet.
  • Subject-Specific Trips: Travel brings classroom lessons to life, giving students opportunities to apply what they have learned in subjects such as world languages, history, and science.
  • Culture and Conservation Trips: Students explore the history and traditions of other countries or take part in hands-on environmental work.
  • International Model United Nations Trips: Members of St. Edward’s Model UN program attend conferences abroad, where they debate global issues, practice diplomacy, and collaborate with students from around the world.

International travel gives St. Edward students a chance to carry what they learn in the classroom into the wider world. Along the way, they encounter new perspectives, form relationships, and return with a deeper understanding of their place in it.
