St. Edward provides resources and support to ensure the success of all students, including those with learning and attention differences.
Despite average to above average intelligence, students with learning differences experience challenges with reading, writing, math, organization, or focus. Our knowledgeable intervention specialists are dedicated to helping learners on IEPs, 504 plans, or other accommodation plans thrive in the classroom and in life!
Academics
St. Edward offers a full-inclusion approach for students with mild to moderate learning needs. Unlike a co-taught approach, students actively engage in our college-preparatory general education courses without modification to content, requirements, or instruction. Leveled class placements within the general education environment support differing abilities.
Accommodations
Edsmen who qualify for accommodations are supported throughout their high school experience. Classroom teachers are informed of these needs, and accommodations are seamlessly integrated into the classroom. Accommodations can range from extra time on tests to preferential seating, text read aloud, digital tools, and more.
Intervention
Outside of general education classes, intervention specialists work with students in small groups during a dedicated class period called Supported Study. These sessions offer the following:
Tutoring Lab
Our tutoring lab, staffed by six dedicated teachers, offers comprehensive homework help before, during, and after school. This resource ensures that students have access to the assistance they need at any time of the day, fostering continuous academic growth.
Executive Function Coaching
A dedicated executive function coach helps students develop essential skills such as effective study habits, time management, and organization. This personalized support empowers students to take control of their learning and excel academically.
St. Edward High School is a provider of the Ohio Department of Education Autism and Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarships.
