It's the one word that defines the St. Edward wrestling team. Widely respected as one of the premier high school wrestling programs in the United States, the wrestling program has won 27 Ohio Division I State Championships, as well as 11 National Championships.
legacy
Since 1959, St. Edward wrestlers have been very successful at the state tournament with 364 qualifiers over the past 54 years, of these, 275 have placed. One hundred have won state titles; including three four-time state champs – Ryan Lang, Lance Palmer and Collin Palmer, eight three-time state champions – Alan Fried, Eddie Jayne, Mason Lenhard, Mark Jayne, Matt Koz, Sean Nemec, Jamie Clark, and Dean Heil. There have been thirteen two-time state champions – Phil Welch, Jim Heffernan, Greg Elinsky, Jeff Strauss, Sam Neider, Yoshi Nakamura, Mike Kulczycki, Andy Hrovat, Mark Moos, Brian Roddy, Gus Sako, Mark Martin, and Domenic Abounader. St. Edward has the state record for the most individual state champions (100), most team championships (27), most state placers (275), most qualifiers (14) (2X), at the state tournament.
