Position Description: Full-time French teacher for the 2026–2027 school year

Reports to: Language Acquisition Department Chair, Dean of Academics, and Principal

Goals: Saint Edward High School, an International Baccalaureate World School, encourages students to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners with international awareness.

Duties:

  • Teaches full-time, including five periods (60-minutes on a rotating schedule), and an advisory group
  • Follows course objectives of the St. Edward curriculum based on the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) standards
  • Works collaboratively with fellow teachers to design and deliver authentic instruction and assessment of French language skills
  • Collaborates with other departments to provide interdisciplinary support and to develop cross-curricular units
  • Maintains classroom control and student behavior, ensuring all students have the opportunity to learn
  • Works directly with team teachers to provide assistance and support for students needing extra help
  • Communicates with counselors, learning professionals, parents, and students to maintain a positive learning experience and identify challenges
  • Communicates with parents and students by regularly posting lesson plans and grades
  • Maintains flexible hours, providing time before or after school for additional help, individualized instruction, mentoring, or guidance on independent projects
  • Supervises or moderates extracurricular activities, such as French Club, as assigned
  • Participates in department and community activities related to outreach, admissions, and similar initiatives

Qualifications:

  • Holds a State of Ohio license in French or a non-tax teaching certificate
  • Demonstrates spoken and written fluency in French
  • Possesses a bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Has proven successful teaching or instructional experience
