Junior Varsity Golf Coach

Position Description: The JV Golf Coach is responsible for the development of students' golfing techniques, sportsmanship, and Integrity while following the mission of St. Edward. Responsibilities include organizing practices, supervising competitions, maintaining equipment, and promoting a positive and inclusive team environment aligned with school and athletic guidelines.

Goals: Saint Edward High School, an International Baccalaureate World School, encourages students to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners with international awareness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conduct daily practices focused on skill development, rules, etiquette, and course management
  • Schedule, manage and direct 5-6 hosted invitationals
  • Coach and mentor student-athletes, emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth
  • Organize match lineups, oversee competitions, and manage practice and match schedules
  • Collaborate with the Varsity coaching staff to support player progression within the program for on and off the golf course programs
  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, and athletic administration
  • Ensure compliance with school, league, and state athletic association policies
  • Assist with equipment management, course coordination, and team logistics
  • Hire an assistant coach to help lead the Junior Varsity program

Qualifications:

  • Prior golf coaching experience (high school or youth level preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of golf fundamentals, rules, and competitive play
  • Ability to teach and motivate student-athletes of varying skill levels
  • Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to practices and matches
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Coaching certification and background check as required by the school/state
