Primary Responsibilities

  • Teach 5 class periods per day (60-minute rotating schedule) plus an advisory group.
  • Support the school's Holy Cross Catholic mission through extracurricular activities, service-learning, and retreats.
  • Teach courses aligned with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) curriculum.
  • Be willing to teach Advanced Placement (AP) and IB Diploma courses.
  • Collaborate with other teachers to develop interdisciplinary lessons and authentic assessments.
  • Maintain an organized, positive classroom environment with effective behavior management.
  • Provide additional academic support to struggling students by working with tutors and colleagues.
  • Communicate regularly with counselors, learning specialists, parents, and students.
  • Keep lesson plans and grades updated in Blackbaud, the school's learning management system.
  • Maintain flexible hours within contract specifications, providing time before school, during community period and after school for additional help, individualized instruction, mentoring or guidance of independent projects.

Qualifications

  • Enthusiasm for teaching students with diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles.
  • Ohio teaching license in Integrated Social Studies or History, or a non-tax teaching certificate.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, Master's preferred.
  • Previous teaching or instructional experience.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and Virtus training
