Gary Hartel’s career in education has taken him across continents and disciplines. He taught in Europe and Africa, including time as an IB Theater teacher directing and producing middle and high school productions, before eventually returning home to Cleveland to be closer to family.
Gary is a teacher in the Engineering Department and serves as the lab manager. He has spent much of his career helping students take an idea and figure out how to make it real.
For Gary, the best part is seeing where students’ curiosity takes them—especially when the finished product looks nothing like what they imagined when they started.
