John Tanzer ’03 began working at St. Edward High School in 2017 and currently serves as the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds. A graduate of St. Edward and inspired by his father, James Tanzer ’74, John takes pride in caring for the campus that helped shape him. He holds a Class A CDL and is certified as an American Heart Association CPR and First Aid Instructor, as well as an Outdoor Leader through the Wilderness Education Association.
John enjoys the wide variety of tasks his role provides and thrives on solving problems using tools, technical skills, and mechanical thinking. His work allows him to repair existing systems or build new solutions—often in creative ways that support the daily life of the St. Edward community.
Outside of work, John enjoys camping, hiking, hunting, kayaking, boating, working in his garage, and fixing or building anything with an engine. He spends much of his free time outdoors with his wife, often accompanied by their black lab, or tackling projects around their home. John is especially proud of earning his Eagle Scout Award, completing his Master’s degree, and serving as Vice Chair of the Zoning Board in Columbia Station.
