Matt Wallenhorst ’05 joined St. Edward High School in 2019 and serves as Vice President of Faith, Mission, & Culture while teaching theology. With a family tradition at St. Edward—his father Jim graduated in 1974 and his brother James in 2007—Matt feels that the school has always been a home for him. He loves being part of a relationship-centered environment that emphasizes a holistic experience, where high school is as much about who you meet and the experiences you share as it is about what you learn in the classroom. He is passionate about helping students grow into better individuals and taking part in formational experiences that allow young men to continue discovering who they are.
Mr. Wallenhorst is involved with the Executive Student Board and the House System. His favorite part of the school day is seeing the community come alive during a pep rally. He is proud of graduating from the Remick Leadership Program at Notre Dame, an experience he describes as both the hardest and most rewarding of his career. Outside of school, Matt enjoys traveling and reading and has visited 48 of the 50 states, with only North Dakota and Hawaii left on his list.
