Simon Masters serves as IB Coordinator and teaches Theory of Knowledge. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin, a Master of Science from Western Illinois University, and a Master of Arts from Ursuline College. His passion for education is rooted in a desire to pay forward the opportunities that helped shape his own life and to support students in developing a deeper understanding of themselves and the world through multiple perspectives.
Simon values the opportunity to positively impact students’ lives and is inspired by colleagues who share a strong belief in the potential of young men. He is proud of his work as a peer-reviewed journal co-author and, most importantly, of being a husband and father. Outside of school, he enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors with his wife and two children. A fun fact about Simon is that he grew up on a small family dairy farm, despite being unable to have dairy, and previously worked as a vertebrate paleontologist.
