St. Ed’s Science Olympiad Team Competes at States; Earning Top 10 Placements & Medalists

Congratulations to St. Ed's Science Olympiad Team who competed at the State Tournament last weekend.

The team placed fourteenth overall out of 40 teams and consisted of a majority of first-year team members. From building devices that keep time using no electricity or batteries and balsa wood planes powered by a rubber band, our student scientists and engineers challenged their skill sets this season and earned the following reputable placements during their State competition.

Top 10 Placements

4th place medalists—WiFi Lab: Will Gonzalez & Santiago Vanegas
8th place—Anatomy & Physiology: Carter Riordan & Elijah Molseed
8th place—Chemistry Lab: Mark Hauptman & Jacob Cook
8th place—Flight: Joseph Spence & Elijah Molseed
9th place—Forensics: Reniel Gall & Minjun Kim
10th place—Codebusters: Reniel Gall, Andrew Elturk & Santiago Vanegas
10th place—Write it Do it: Mark Hauptman & Will Gonzalez

"Thanks to all the science, math, engineering and computer science teachers who have instilled knowledge and fostered creativity in their courses," says Science teacher and Science Olympiad co-moderator Erin Schilf.
