Recognized worldwide as the gold standard in college preparation, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program challenges students with a rigorous curriculum rooted in critical thinking, research, and global perspective. Each year, approximately 20% of St. Edward seniors commit to this prestigious course of study.
Edsmen who choose to pursue the IB Diploma take a full slate of IB classes in grades 11 and 12, along with completing additional service hours, projects, and research.
One of the defining components of the IB Diploma is the Extended Essay—a capstone project that challenges students to engage in independent, university-level research. Guided by a faculty mentor, each student explores a topic of personal interest, ultimately producing a 4,000-word paper. This intensive process not only strengthens skills in writing and analysis but also builds the confidence and discipline required for success in higher education.
The IB Diploma Cohort was celebrated on Wednesday, May 7 at the Annual IB Cords & Awards Ceremony. Click here to view the photo gallery.
