, Lakewood, OH 44107

While the Admission Test at St. Edward is required for all eighth-grade applicants, there is no cost to take the test, and students are welcome to take it as many times as they wish.

While students are testing, parents are invited to stay for light refreshments and a presentation by St. Edward's leadership team.

About the Test

The High School Placement Test is a standardized, multiple-choice exam that measures academic abilities on a national scale. It includes five subsections:

  • Verbal Skills: Assesses a student's vocabulary understanding.
  • Quantitative Skills: Assesses problem-solving abilities involving numbers and calculations.
  • Reading: Assesses comprehension and analysis of texts, as well as critical thinking.
  • Mathematics: Similar to quantitative skills, assesses understanding of mathematical concepts and principles.
  • Language: Assesses understanding of grammar, writing mechanics, and language usage.

Test results, in addition to grades and teacher recommendations, are used for future class placement. High scores on the test can also qualify students for merit scholarships.

If your son has an IEP or 504 plan qualifying him for test accommodations, such as extended time, please submit a copy of this documentation at least one week in advance. Send to admissions@sehs.net.
