Annual Theme

For the 2026–27 academic year, St. Edward embraces the Holy Cross pillar of Servant Leadership with a community-wide theme: Service That Speaks.

Holy Cross values are the foundation of a St. Edward education, shaping every aspect of campus life. Each year, the school community focuses on one of the institution's four Holy Cross pillars through a shared annual theme.

For the 2026–27 academic year, St. Edward embraces the pillar of Servant Leadership with the theme: Service That Speaks.

Our mission is the Lord's and so is the strength for it. We turn to Him in prayer that He will clasp us more firmly to Himself and use our hands and wits to do the work that only He can do. Then our work itself becomes a prayer: a service that speaks to the Lord who works through us.  -Holy Cross Constitutions, 2:20

Throughout their four years, Edsmen are challenged to discover their call to lead through service by placing the greater good before themselves. They strive to embody hospitality, compassion, zeal, and humility, bringing hope to every person they encounter.

That service becomes something more. The Holy Cross Constitutions teach that whether in the classroom, on the playing field, at home, or in the community, acts of service become a living witness to God at work in the world. Every act of generosity, every moment of compassion, and every opportunity to place another person's needs before one's own becomes both a prayer and an expression of Christ's love.

As students, faculty, and staff seek to live more like Christ each day, Service That Speaks challenges every member of the St. Edward community to recognize that the strongest witness to faith is often found not in what is said, but in how people love, serve, and care for others. By answering God's call with humility and generosity, every member of the St. Edward community is invited to let his life become a service that speaks.
