St. Edward’s bell schedule puts learning on an innovative loop that never gets boring!
Classes are scheduled on a daily rotation that cycles through an entire semester—providing more instructional minutes overall, as well as increased opportunities for extracurricular participation.
Enrichment Period
Each day begins with an optional enrichment period, which allows for staggered arrival. Edsmen use this time to meet with teachers, complete homework, or even grab breakfast in the Rini Servery before their first class.
Five Class Periods
Students take seven courses, but only five meet per day. The schedule rotates throughout an entire semester, so learners rarely have the same class during the same time slot. Generous 60-minute periods allow for intensive instruction and project-based learning, while ample flex time encourages collaboration between teachers and students alike.
Community Period
In keeping with the Holy Cross emphasis on relationships, the entire campus takes a break during Community Period. This time allows students and teachers to come together for lunch, extracurriculars, activities out on the field, or just an impromptu hang out! Community Period is instrumental in building the warm and welcoming vibes that make St. Edward stand out!
Mentorship Homeroom & House Period
At the start of freshman year, each student joins a Mentorship Group composed of students from all four grade levels. These groups meet daily for homeroom, remain together throughout a student’s four years, and combine to form larger Houses. This structure gives upperclassmen opportunities to lead and mentor younger students. Each week, typically on Friday, St. Edward dedicates a full 60-minute period to House activities, including service, conversation, and friendly competitions. These shared experiences help students build relationships, support one another, and strengthen brotherhood across grade levels.
Our class schedule feels more like a college schedule. I love having time during the day to hang out with friends.
