Custodian (part-time, days)

Position Description

St. Edward High School is seeking candidates for a part-time, year-round Custodian position, working Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Custodian plays an important role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors. This position performs a variety of cleaning and general custodial duties throughout the school, including classrooms, offices, hallways, stairwells, restrooms, the cafeteria and athletic facilities.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop and vacuum floors, stairways and other areas throughout the school.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish restroom supplies as needed.
• Collect and dispose of trash and recycling.
• Dust and clean hard surfaces, glass doors and other designated areas.
• Clean and maintain gymnasiums, locker rooms and athletic areas.
• Move furniture as necessary to thoroughly clean floors and hard-to-reach areas.
• Set up and take down tables, chairs and other equipment for school events and activities.
• Monitor the building for safety and security concerns and report issues as appropriate.
• Assist with additional custodial and facility needs as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and understand English and follow verbal instructions.
• Manual dexterity and the ability to use proper lifting techniques.
• Ability to safely move furniture and perform the physical duties associated with custodial work.
• Demonstrated trustworthiness, honesty and respect when interacting with students, faculty, staff and visitors.
• Willingness and ability to support the Mission of St. Edward High School.
• Ability to successfully complete FBI and BCI criminal background checks.
• Availability to work weekends as needed to support school events.
