A proud alumnus, devoted educator, and respected leader within our community, Mr. Altieri brings a strong sense of purpose to this role. For the past six years, he has served as Dean of Student Support Services, where he has led a 23-member department dedicated to ensuring every Edsman has the tools and support needed to succeed. His inclusive vision and collaborative leadership style have earned him the trust of students, families, and colleagues alike.

“Through our search process, we sought a leader who is visionary, student-centered, and committed to building strong relationships,” said President KC McKenna ’00. “We were looking for someone who could inspire academic innovation while honoring the traditions and values that define St. Edward. In Matt, we found all of that and more.”

Throughout his career, Mr. Altieri has been a champion for educational excellence, always guided by kindness, humility, and a commitment to service. He believes in creating a school environment where every student feels a true sense of belonging.

As an alumnus, Mr. Altieri knows the transformational impact of a Holy Cross education.

“I know firsthand how St. Edward changes lives,” said Mr. Altieri. “This school shaped who I am, and I am honored to help shape its future. I want every student to feel known, supported, and inspired to grow into the person they’re meant to be.”

Before returning to St. Edward, he spent more than a decade supporting individuals with disabilities, helping them build independence and find success through education, employment, and community-based programs. He holds a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and a master’s degree from Kent State University.

Mr. Altieri comes from a family with deep roots at St. Edward, including his father, Mark ’70; his brothers, Bryan ’99, Mark Jr. ’07, and Rich ’11; and his brother-in-law, Mark Campbell ’98. He is closely connected to the school community and continues to be involved with the rugby program. He and his wife, Laura, have three sons—Angelo, Vincent, and Michael. They live in Peninsula and are members of Mother of Sorrows Parish.

Please join us in congratulating Mr. Altieri as he steps into this new role!
