Meet the 2026 Man of the Year Nominees

Since 1956, one outstanding Edsman from each senior class has been named Man of the Year—the highest honor bestowed upon a student. 

This individual is nominated by his classmates and selected by the faculty and staff for embodying the mission of St. Edward High School. He is a hope-bringer of the highest caliber and exemplifies the school's four Holy Cross pillars as a beacon of faith, a model of excellence, a builder of relationships, and a humble servant leader. We are proud to announce this year's nominees.

 
Lucas

HARPER LUCAS ’26

Harper Lucas, son of Yolanda Hilliard Lucas and Jason Lucas, is from Macedonia and attended Lawrence School prior to St. Edward High School.

A member of the National Honor Society, Harper serves as Editor of Flight Magazine and President of the Sports Broadcasting Club, while also contributing as a Student Ambassador and Student Minister. He hosts the weekly SETV program Eagle Winners and has broadcast games for NEO Productions, including three varsity basketball playoff games, and served as a color commentator during the team’s Final Four run. Harper has earned High Honors all four years, along with multiple academic awards.

He will attend Elon University, where he plans to major in journalism after earning both the Elon Presidential Scholarship and Fellows Scholarship.

 
May

TJ MAY ’26

TJ May, son of Keonna Scott and Terrence May, is from Cleveland and attended Buhrer Dual Language School prior to St. Edward High School.

TJ is on the volleyball team and serves as a Student Minister and Student Ambassador. He is active in the Student Diversity Association, including Men of Hope and Best Buddies, and competes in Unified Sports events alongside his St. André Scholar teammates. His voice can also be heard on the morning announcements. TJ is a Forward Scholar.

He will attend the University of Cincinnati, where he has received a merit scholarship and plans to major in biological sciences.


 
Smith

RYLAN SMITH ’26

Rylan Smith, son of Melissa and David Smith, is from Cleveland Heights and attended St. Dominic School prior to St. Edward High School.

Rylan serves as Captain of the rowing team and is involved in Mock Trial, Best Buddies, the National Honor Society, and Student Ministry. In Mock Trial, he has competed in three district competitions and earned regional qualification twice.

Rylan is a candidate for the International Baccalaureate Diploma and has been recognized as a National Merit Commended Scholar.

He will attend The Ohio State University, where he plans to major in exercise science on a pre-med track.

 
Vlosich

BRYAN VLOSICH ’26

Bryan Vlosich, son of Kelley and George Vlosich, is from Westlake and attended St. Bernadette Elementary School prior to St. Edward High School.

A member of the National Honor Society, Bryan serves as Vice President of Servant Leadership for Student Council and Vice President of Best Buddies. His additional involvements include Student Ambassadors, Student Ministry, and Sports Business Leaders. Bryan is a Forward Scholar. He has also been named Student-Athlete of the Year and has achieved High Honors all four years.

He is Captain of the basketball team and the program’s all-time three-point leader, earning Northeast Ohio All-District Player of the Year and First Team All-Ohio honors. He has also lettered in volleyball.

Bryan will attend Ashland University, where he will continue his athletic career.

 
Yondo

CADEN YONDO ’26

Caden Yondo, son of Heather and Michael Yondo '84, is from Broadview Heights and attended Saint Albert the Great School prior to St. Edward High School.

Caden is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society. He is a Student Ambassador, House Leader, and Eucharistic Minister. His honors include the Yale University Book Award, High Point University Book Award, and 2025 Theology Student of the Year, among others. He is the recipient of the Seven Standards of an Edsman Scholarship.

A multi-year letterman in both football and hockey, Caden plans to play football at the collegiate level and will soon announce his college decision.

 

Congratulations to each of the nominees! The 2026 Man of the Year will be announced at Senior Awards Night on May 6.
