Robert Cahill ’93 has given generously of his time and experience to the St. Edward community, continuing a family commitment to Catholic education through his service as a coach, alumni leader, and parent. A shareholder at Sutter O’Connell, he brings more than 25 years of experience as a trial attorney, focusing on governmental liability, products liability, and complex litigation, including trial and appellate advocacy.

Now in his 17th season coaching the school’s mock trial program, Rob has helped generations of students develop their arguments, prepare for competition, and find confidence in the courtroom. He helped guide the 2023 state championship team, adding to a longstanding commitment to the program and its students.

Rob has served the Legal Eagles as president, luncheon chair, and education chair and regularly presents at its year-end continuing legal education program. He also served for 12 years on the St. Edward Alumni Association Board, holding the offices of president, secretary, and treasurer. Across these roles, his steady involvement reflects his affection for the school and his commitment to giving back.

Rob earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame and his law degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. He and his wife, Marianne, live in Cleveland’s West Park neighborhood with their sons, Jack ’28 and Tommy ’30.

An active parishioner at St. Mel Catholic Church, Rob serves as a lector and Eucharistic minister. He recently completed four years on the parish’s pastoral council, including two years as chair.

The youngest of five children of the late Jerry Cahill and Joan Cahill, Rob credits his parents’ sacrifices with making a Catholic education possible for all five children through college. His own service carries that commitment forward.
