For over 30 years, St. Edward High School has celebrated the outstanding contributions of student-athletes, coaches, and athletic staff through induction into the Howard E. Ferguson Athletic Hall of Fame. This annual tradition honors those who exemplify the rich legacy of the St. Edward Eagles—a legacy built on dedication and the pursuit of excellence.

Football

  • Named All-Ohio Second Team Offense
  • Set two school single-game passing records with four touchdowns and 356 passing yards
  • Established three new single-season records with 1,829 passing yards, 15 touchdown passes, and a 60.4% passing percentage
  • Set five career individual records with 23 touchdown passes, 3,178 passing yards, 3,113 yards of total offense, 194 completed passes, and a 60.4% passing percentage

Wrestling

  • Helped lead the Eagles to four state championships and two national championships
  • Three-time individual Ohio state champion and three-time Ironman champion
  • First-ever four-time Medina Invitational champion, USA Dream Team member, and Cleveland Plain Dealer Lee Kemp Wrestler of the Year
  • Continued his career at the University of Illinois, earning multiple NCAA All-American honors, a Big Ten championship, and Midlands and Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational titles, while serving as a two-time team captain and three-time Academic All-American

  • Three-time individual state wrestling champion, finishing his senior season undefeated with a 36-0 record; InterMat's No. 1-ranked 182-pound wrestler
  • Compiled a career wrestling record of 135-8 while helping the Eagles capture multiple state championships
  • University of Michigan wrestling career included NCAA All-American honors, three NCAA qualifications, a 2015 Big Ten championship, and service as team captain
  • Earned All-Ohio football honors while helping the Eagles capture their first Division I state championship in 2010 with a perfect 15-0 record

Track and Field & Football

  • St. Edward’s first and only state championship sprinter; two-time track and field All-American
  • 13-time state champion in track and field, including eight individual and five team titles, leading the Eagles to back-to-back state championships in both indoor track and track and field in 2012 and 2013
  • Continued his athletic career in football and track at Indiana University and the University of Akron, earning Academic All-Big Ten and Academic All-MAC honors
  • All-Ohio wide receiver who helped lead the Eagles to their first Division I state football championship and a perfect 15-0 season in 2010

  • St. Edward High School faculty member from 1970–2016; also served in a variety of athletic roles, including sports information director, golf coach, and tennis coach
  • Author of Positive Values: 50 Years of Excellence, a lasting historical resource capturing the achievements, traditions, and stories that define St. Edward
  • Voice of St. Edward football and basketball since 1971, and wrestling since 1975, announcing all home varsity football and basketball games and all home Gold Team wrestling matches
  • Public address announcer at Cleveland Municipal Stadium; voice of the Cleveland Browns from 1979–1995 and Cleveland Indians from 1989–1993
