Tuition & Scholarships

Between a variety of scholarships and need-based financial aid, every St. Edward family receives a discounted tuition package.

Every St. Edward student receives a discounted tuition package designed to make a St. Edward education—and the lifelong opportunities it provides—more affordable for his family.

Tuition for the 2026–27 school year is $21,150, with a $750 student life fee. 

To help prospective families understand tuition costs before applying for admission, St. Edward begins reviewing scholarship and financial aid applications in November of a student’s eighth-grade year. Families who submit applications by November 13, 2026 will receive a personalized estimate in December.

 

Need-Based Financial Aid

Thanks to the generosity of the St. Edward community, significant need-based financial aid is offered to families who qualify. FACTS, a third-party company, assesses financial need through an online application that requires parents to upload last year's tax forms and W2s. Families who apply for financial aid by November 13, 2026 will receive a personalized tuition estimate in December.

St. Edward Scholarships

In addition to financial aid, hundreds of St. Edward Scholarships open doors for future Edsmen! Families who fill out the Scholarship Application by November 13, 2026 will receive a personalized tuition estimate, reflecting any scholarship awards, in December.  

ABOUT MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS

St. Edward awards an automatic scholarship to students who score in the top tenth national percentile on the High School Placement Test.

These merit-based scholarships are renewable each year as long as the student maintains a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 and a semester GPA of 3.0.

DEADLINE: Class of 2031 applicants MUST TAKE THE HSPT TEST ON OCTOBER 10, 24, OR NOVEMBER 7, 2026.

Provided a student has tested at St. Edward, high scores from other testing locations can be submitted for scholarship consideration. Email to admissions@sehs.net by January 17, 2027.

Merit Scholarships are awarded automatically based on HSPT scores; they do not require a Scholarship Application or FACTS Financial Aid Application.

ABOUT HOLY CROSS SCHOLARSHIPS

Holy Cross Scholarships recognize applicants who embody the four pillars of a St. Edward education: faith, excellence, relationships, and servant leadership.

  • Faith: Candidates demonstrate a deep and active faith life, a commitment to growing spiritually, and a desire to live with purpose and integrity.
  • Excellence: Candidates pursue academic and personal excellence with curiosity and determination, striving to use their talents to the fullest.

  • Servant Leadership: Candidates lead by example—with a focus on serving others before themselves.

Requirements: Scholarship Application, FACTS Financial Aid Application, minimum 3.0 GPA for annual renewal, and good disciplinary standing.

ABOUT LEGACY SCHOLARSHIPS

The Legacy Scholarship honors the enduring brotherhood shared across generations of Edsmen within the same family. These scholarships are awarded to applicants whose father, stepfather, grandfather, step-grandfather, or great-grandfather, living or deceased, graduated from St. Edward.

Requirements: Scholarship Application, minimum 3.0 GPA for annual renewal, and good disciplinary standing.

Award Amount: $500

ABOUT MUSIC SCHOLARSHIPS

The St. Edward Music Scholarship supports incoming freshmen who want to share and develop their musical talents as active members of the St. Edward performing arts community. Every incoming freshman who completes the scholarship requirements and participates in an eligible music ensemble receives the $1,500 annual scholarship.

In order to qualify, eighth graders must:

1. Complete the Scholarship Application.

2. Schedule a brief listening session with a member of the performing arts faculty on December 8, 9, or 10, 2026. The assessment is not a competitive audition and does not determine whether a student receives the scholarship. It helps St. Edward’s music directors place each student in the ensemble and part where he will have the best opportunity to succeed and grow as a musician. Students should come prepared to sing or play a solo. Instrumentalists must also play a scale of their choice; percussionists will be asked to perform their scale on marimba or xylophone, even if their solo is on a snare drum. 3. Participate in one of the following ensembles for the 2027–28 school year.

  • Band - Marching (fall) and Symphonic (winter and spring) rehearse after school.
  • Orchestra - Meets all year as a class period, as well as rehearses before school twice per week.
  • Choir - Meets all year as a class period, as well as rehearses after school twice per week.

Award Amount: $1,500 annually, renewable each year with continued participation in an eligible music ensemble.

ABOUT NAMED ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS

Named endowed scholarships—made possible by generous supporters—help ensure that cost is never a barrier to receiving a St. Edward education. Recipients are expected to set an example of integrity, responsibility, and school spirit. These scholarships are awarded based on the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated financial need
  • Service to their school, parish, or community
  • Strong record of academic achievement
  • Leadership potential shown through their ability to inspire others in athletics, extracurriculars, or service projects

Requirements: Scholarship Application, FACTS Financial Aid Application, demonstrated financial need, and good disciplinary standing.

Award Amount: Varies by scholarship.

State Scholarships

Every student is eligible for a scholarship from the State of Ohio to reduce the cost of a private school education. Families don't have to navigate the process alone—staff members in the St. Edward Business Office help identify the appropriate scholarship and guide them through the process. Students may receive only one state scholarship, but it can be combined with need-based financial aid and St. Edward scholarships.

Class of 2031 parents will complete state scholarship forms in spring of 2027, after their son is admitted to St. Edward.

ABOUT THE AUTISM SCHOLARSHIP

The Autism Scholarship is available to students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) categorized under autism. The scholarship can also be utilized by individuals for whom an Autism Education Plan (AEP) was developed by their public school district. The scholarship covers educational and therapeutic needs up to $34,000 per year.

ABOUT THE CLEVELAND SCHOLARSHIP

The Cleveland Scholarship is a private school voucher for students who reside within the city of Cleveland. The value of the voucher for grades 9–12 is currently $8,408.

ABOUT THE EDCHOICE SCHOLARSHIP

The EdChoice Expansion Scholarship, offered through the Ohio Department of Education, enables any student in Ohio to use state funding for private school tuition. Awards range from $840.80 to $8,408, depending on household size and the income reported on the most recent tax return. Click the button below for example award amounts.

Additionally, St. Edward participates in the EdChoice Traditional Scholarship program, which provides students from low-performing districts with an $8,408 scholarship to apply toward private school tuition.

ABOUT THE JON PETERSON SPECIAL NEEDS SCHOLARSHIP

The Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship is exclusively for students who have an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Award amounts are based on the category of disability as identified on the student’s ETR and vary from $10,045–$34,000.
