Director of Marketing and Communications 

St. Edward High School is seeking an experienced Director of Marketing & Communications who will be responsible for the strategic marketing and communications plan that supports the organization’s strategic plan and Holy Cross Mission. The Director is responsible for developing, managing and executing St. Edward’s marketing and communication initiatives. The Director supports and collaborates with admission and advancement colleagues in the overall promotion of each department’s goals and initiatives.

Background:

St. Edward High School (SEHS) is a premier private boys’ Roman Catholic college preparatory high school in Lakewood, Ohio, just west of Cleveland. The School was founded in 1949 and is operated in the tradition and charism of the Congregation of Holy Cross and sponsored by the Brothers of Holy Cross Midwest Province.  The School has an enrollment of 900+ students from a variety of race, economic, and religious strata, with a six-county geographic reach.

Position Summary: The Director of Marketing and Communications provides visionary leadership that supports the school’s strategic plan and mission, along with creating and implementing a marketing and communications strategy which is effective in traditional mediums and emerging technologies, utilizing both print and digital content, ensuring successful measurable results.  


Primary Responsibilities (not all-encompassing):

  • Create and drive the marketing and communications strategy for St. Edward High School (SEHS)

  • Manage all areas of marketing, communications, advertising, and digital mediums, leading to increased enrollment, greater alumni engagement and NE Ohio’s awareness of the opportunities SEHS.

  • Develop and implement data-driven marketing strategies with clear, key performance indicators, allowing the school to reach and exceed admission goals.

  • Design and administer effective print and digital marketing collateral for prospective students/parents that communicates the opportunities St. Ed’s offers and effectively invites them to apply to SEHS.

  • Oversee and assist with all external communication for SEHS, including Advancement, Athletics, Admissions and other internal groups as needed.

  • Source and maintain professional relationships with all media and marketing professionals both regionally and nationally. 

  • Manage the marketing, communications and advertising budgets for SEHS.

  • Serve as the school’s website Administrator; SEO expert and social media guru; providing training on these platforms to other internal team members as needed. 

  • Oversee content creation and metrics of all social media platforms, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn.

  • Produce graphics, brochures, invitations and other collateral marketing materials for SEHS events.

  • Stay abreast of latest marketing technology, emerging trends, market research and effective advertising campaigns.

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Marketing & Communications department, including budget prep and adherence, data storage and reporting, all internal communication-print, on-line, website, and social media, related to Marketing.


Qualifications:

  • Proven experience developing marketing & communications strategies, implementing plans, achieving goals and pivoting based on shifting priorities and circumstances.

  • A creative thinker, who holds themselves accountable, honors commitments and supports the Mission of St. Edward High School.

  • 10 or more years’ experience in a senior marketing & communications role.

  • Strong knowledge of campaign setup and measurement, e.g., pixel management, Google Analytics, Ad creation and placement.

  • Proven understanding of SEO, front-end web management, and marketing automation.

  • Confident, data driven individual with good judgment skills, excellent problem-solving techniques along with the understanding meeting deadlines is paramount.

  • Strong interpersonal, presentation, networking and communication skills.

  • Exemplary follow-through and project management techniques.

  • Passionate about the SEHS mission.

  • Highly organized and extremely detail oriented; able to “make it happen”.

  • Demonstrated understanding of marketing strategies and goals, along with being able to communicate the necessary reporting of data and achievements.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related discipline, Master’s degree preferred.

Color Guard Instructor

The St. Edward High School educates the hearts and minds of a diverse group of young men to have the competence to see and the courage to act as men of faith and hope for the transformation of the world.

 

St. Edward Marching Eagles has a fantastic opportunity available for an experienced COLOR GUARD INSTRUCTOR for the 2023 marching band season (May-November). The Marching Eagles are a corps-style competitive marching band. They are consistent OMEA State Finalists, earning superior ratings at the state level for the last 10 years. They also compete in BOA and LMBA circuits most seasons.


Duties of the color guard instructors include:

  • Conduct color guard clinics and tryouts in May or June

  • Instruct color guard in basic movement and technique

  • Effectively teach routine for the competitive show

  • Write and teach routine for the football show

  • Assist with flag and uniform design for the competitive show

  • Ensure that equipment necessary for performance throughout the season is maintained, transported, and stored properly

  • Notify the director of repairs or purchases related to color guard that need to be made in a timely manner

  • Rehearse the colorguard two days a week throughout the summer

  • Attend all band camp rehearsals in the summer

  • Work with the colorguard 75% of regular season full ensemble rehearsals

  • Attend all adjudicated performances 

  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner

  • Complete VIRTUS training and update modules as necessary

  • Chaperone as needed at performances

  • Keep a working binder of all source material

  • Ensure the safety of students under your instruction within reason

  • Meet briefly with director before and after each rehearsal to plan

  • Complete any additional tasks the director requests as necessary

A contract for writing guard work is also available to the instructor if they choose to do so. Dedication and communication are paramount. DCI or WGI/OIPA Winterguard experience preferred, but not required.

Percussion Instructor

St. Edward High School has a fantastic opportunity available for a Percussion instruction for our 2023 Band season, beginning June 1 and working through the end of Band season November/December. The percussion instructor teaches students the fundamentals and advanced concepts of playing drums, cymbals, and other percussive musical instruments

Responsibilities include:

  • Teach all music for performances to the battery and front ensemble with mastery in mind

  • Ensure band activities support the school’s mission and provide a safe and supportive band experience

  • Exhibit appropriate, professional behavior, positive attitude and work ethic as expected by a youth leader

  • Attend majority of band rehearsals and all adjudicated performances

  • Work closely with the Band Director and Assistant Band Director to understand deadlines, modify parts as needed and support and enforce school rules and standards

  • Keep students engaged and create a culture of participation and respect

  • Perform other Band related duties as needed


Qualifications:

  • Exhibit a passion for music

  • Proficiency playing and instructing others to play percussion instruments

  • Minimum 2 years-experience of music instruction preferred.  Past participation in competitive marching band or drum corps desired

  • Experience writing for percussion, both battery and front ensemble

  • Excellent organizational and time management & communication skills

English Tutor 

Part-Time during the 2023-2024 School Year

(Monday-Friday; 7:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. when students are in session)

St. Edward HS has an opportunity available for an experienced Language Arts educator to provide tutoring to augment the school’s English curriculum.    In this part-time role, working closely with the school’s 7 English teachers you will:

  • Provide individual and small group tutoring to students.

  • Assist students in improving academic achievement by meeting with them on a regular basis to help dismiss learning obstacles, practice reading, writing and speaking the language with emphasis working on perfecting written communication skills.

  • Review class materials with students, execute development exercises, assist with homework assignments and help prepare students for exams.

  • Assist advanced level students with preparing for the portion of the IB final exam.

  • Formulating ideas for working on solutions to learning barriers the student exhibits.

  • Keep notes on student’s progress to share with faculty, counselor and possibly parents.

 

Qualified applicants will:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Language Arts or English, with some teaching or tutoring experience

  • Be an effective communicator

  • Show proven ability and willingness to work with a diverse group of students engaging with students at the level they need to comprehend the subject matter

  • Possess the willingness and ability to support the Mission of St. Edward High School

Language Tutor (Spanish & French)

Full-Time during the 2023-2024 School Year 

St. Edward High School educates the hearts and minds of a diverse group of young men to have the competence to see and the courage to act as men of faith for the transformation of the world.

St. Edward HS has an opportunity available for an experienced language educator to provide tutoring to augment the Spanish and French classroom learning.    In this full-time role, working closely with the school’s 5 Spanish teachers and 1 French teacher you will:

  • Provide individual and small group tutoring to students.

  • Assist students in improving academic achievement by meeting with them on a regular basis to help dismiss learning obstacles, practice speaking the language  and work on perfecting articulation and written language skills.

  • Review class materials with students, execute language development exercises, assist with homework assignments and help prepare students for language exams.

  • Assist advanced level students with preparing for the language portion of the IB final exam.

  • Formulating ideas for working on solutions to learning barriers the student exhibits.

  • Keep notes on student’s progress to share with world language faculty, counselor and possibly parents.

 

Qualified applicants will:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish or French, with some teaching or tutoring experience

  • Must be able to speak and understand both Spanish and French

  • Be an effective communicator

  • Show proven ability and willingness to work with a diverse group of students engaging with students at the level they need to comprehend the subject matter

  • Possess the willingness and ability to support the Mission of St. Edward High School
