MUSIC PROGRAMS

PERFORMING ARTS AT ST. ED'S

St. Edward High School has had a robust music program since the school’s inception in 1949. The school’s ensembles have performed for U.S. Presidents, won national awards, competed locally and nationally, and were the genesis of numerous professional musicians.

Each year Marching Band and Symphonic Band participate in adjudicated events and festivals. The Choir, Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo, and Symphonic Band perform two or three concerts in the spring semester, in addition to numerous community performances at a variety of functions.

Performances are always well-received by audiences and provide an opportunity for students to spread the school’s mission through music. Many of our students also participate in local and state-wide honor groups.

All of our performing ensembles are designed to be as inclusive as possible. No prior musical experience is required to join any of our ensembles and auditions are for placement only. The Symphonic Band and Marching Band also welcome students from Magnificat and St. Joseph High Schools, a tradition going back to the late 1970’s.

We also offer some opportunities for prospective students interested in music. More information about these programs can be found HERE

In addition to our performing ensembles, students can take IB Music, History of Rock and Roll, and Music Theory classes.
