WHAT MAKES AN IB LEARNER?
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Learner Profile describes a broad range of human capacities and responsibilities that go beyond academic success. They imply a commitment to help all members of the school community learn to respect themselves, others and the world around them.

Participation in the St. Edward High School International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is a privilege earned through a student’s demonstration of dedication to the St. Edward High School mission. Work ethic, organizational skills, and intellectual ability are important, but not at the expense of aspiring to be faithful, inquiring, knowledgeable, thinking, communicative, principled, open-minded, caring, risk- taking, balanced, reflective Christ-like servant leaders with hope to bring.
An IB learner is one who:

Lives the St. Edward High School mission while at school and abroad

Aims to develop as an inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young person who strives to help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect

Strives for excellence by engaging in challenging programmes of international education and inquiry-based assessment

Desires to become an active, compassionate and lifelong learner who understands that other people, with their differences, can also be right

Models the aspirational traits of the Learner Profile for his peers and in his community

Meets the service expectations of St. Edward High School

Values community, exemplified in part, by staying in good standing with the Dean of Men

Maintains a grade point average consistent with satisfactory academic progress
In order to be a full diploma candidate, a student will successfully meet the expectations of a diploma candidate outlined and maintained by the IB Organization including:

Successfully completing internationally developed assessments in all courses

Participating in the Theory of Knowledge (TOK) course and meet course expectations
-
Completing the Extended Essay (EE)
-
Engaging in Community, Activity, Service (CAS) and meet CAS expectations
