BROTHERHOOD: ST. ED'S CELEBRATES 2018 REUNION/HOMECOMING WEEKEND

St. Ed's Reunion/Homecoming Weekend is an annual tradition that students, families and alumni look forward to every year. Last weekend, members of the St. Edward community joined together to participate in an array of events to celebrate the St. Edward brotherhood and to spend time with friends and family.

To kick off the weekend's festivities, St. Ed's hosted the 2018 Athletic Hall of Fame inductions on campus, honoring this year's St. Edward High School Athletic Hall of Fame inductees, including Paul Becka '67 (who played all four years in Football, Basketball and Baseball), Ryan Bertin '00 (Wrestling), Chris Lepore '97 (Football), Steve Lepore '98 (Basketball), Steve Logan '98 (Basketball) and the 1998 Basketball Team (photographed top right, who won the first State Basketball title in St. Edward High School history). On Friday night, alumni members from class years ending in '3 or '8 were invited to the St. Ed's Reunion Golf Outing (photographed bottom right) at Big Met Golf Course during the day and Stag Night (photographed bottom left), a casual evening for alumni to reconnect at their alma mater.

The following day, students, alumni, friends and families participated in fun, pre-game Homecoming festivities at St. Edward High School, including a picnic, games, and performances by the St. Ed's Marching Band and Cheer Team. Eagle fans gathered together Saturday afternoon at First Federal of Lakewood Stadium to cheer on the St. Ed's football team as they defeated Indianapolis Cathedral with a 39-14 victory for this year's Homecoming football game (photographed top left). Afterward, the Classes of 1953, 1958, 1963 and 1968 convened at the Lakewood Country Club for the Golden Eagles Dinner while the Class of 1973 met up at Lock 44 at Merwin's Wharf for a special class dinner. Alumni and families were welcomed back Sunday morning to St. Edward High School to celebrate the Reunion Family Mass in the Holy Family Chapel to conclude St. Ed's 2018 Reunion/Homecoming Weekend.

"St. Ed's is a place of community. We do things from the heart and we care about our alumni and their extended families. St. Ed's is growing in all the right places and we offer many ways for alumni to connect with other alumni, including Reunion/Homecoming Weekend. Reunion/Homecoming Weekend is all about reconnecting with classmates and friends you've met along the way and going down memory lane together," says Mrs. Mo Loesch, Stewardship Coordinator. "The best part of Reunion/Homecoming Weekend is seeing everyone come back to St. Ed's and meet up with fellow classmates and hearing them recall the stories and events that made their time at St. Ed's special. They all have a special bond - a brotherhood that never goes away," says Mr. Paul Mocho '85, VP of Institutional Advancement.

Special thanks to the Office of Institutional Advancement and all those who helped make this year's Reunion/Homecoming Weekend a success!
