JUNIOR LEADERS COLLABORATE, REFLECT & BRAINSTORM FOR UPCOMING SUMMER LEADERSHIP RETREAT

This week, Director of Campus Ministry Cari White and Associate Dean of Student Life & Leadership Matt Wallenhorst '05 took 10 junior Edsmen, who have taken on leadership roles in multiple ways across the school community, on a leadership retreat to collaborate and connect through their individual leadership styles. Through team-building exercises and reflection periods on what it means to be a Holy Cross servant leader, this leadership retreat was created as an opportunity for students to come together and plan different elements of a larger leadership retreat that will be held this summer. "We haven't been able to have this Holy Cross Servant Leadership retreat for a few years now because of the pandemic, but we are excited to bring it back and provide a unique experience for upperclassmen to grow in their own leadership skills by working together to create a larger retreat experience for their peers," says Ms. White. "Research shows that the more hands-on approaches you can give students, the more concrete their own faith development becomes. Providing the students with not only the opportunity to pray and reflect themselves, but to also put in place a way to guide their peers through the same process is a really cool thing and we are glad they're taking advantage of this opportunity." With more opportunities for Edsmen to participate in retreat experiences, they're able to take time outside of the classroom to connect with their classmates, bond through a shared experience, and find new ways to lead together.
