NEW GOLF RETREAT INVITES STUDENTS AND ADULTS TO JOIN IN REFLECTION AND RELATIONSHIP BUILDING

On Monday, VP of Faith, Mission & Culture Owen Williams '13, Associate VP of Institutional Advancement Colleen Kiely, Head Basketball Coach Eric Flannery '90, Theology teacher Matt Rentz and President KC McKenna '00 led a group of seniors on St. Ed's first ever golf retreat. The retreat was designed to lead students through a day of prayerful reflection and relationship building through a round of golf at Pine Hills Golf Club. This approach, along with the Food and Faith Retreat that was held this week, is part of a renewed push to accompany students on their faith journeys and provide creative retreat experiences for them. Throughout the day, participants used a customized "scorebook" with hole-by-hole reflections that engaged students and adults in profound and thoughtful conversation.

"It was a fun and relaxing experience. While also connecting us to our faith and spirituality," says Nick Del Regno '23.

"The golf retreat was a great mix of building connections and connecting the sport of golf with our Catholic faith. It is a fantastic retreat that should be continued for years to come," says Brendan Carney '23.

"The golf experience was great because it is such a difficult game but such a great learning experience. Every hole allowed me to reflect and understand I have a new opportunity ahead," says Senior Class President Colin Ashdown '23.

“It was great being able to share some time with some senior students that we would normally not have. Being outside, playing golf, telling stories, and getting to know each other was something that the young men and I will cherish moving forward,” says Coach Flannery.

St. Ed's is in the process of developing several additional creative retreat experiences that will be hosted for students this year as a way to combine spirituality and reflection with students' passions and hobbies.
